Restore a document version

Compare earlier document versions and restore the one that should become current.

Use version history when a document needs to return to an earlier state. Check what changed before you restore it, then tell the team why the version moved back.

How to

  1. Open the item you need to check

Open the document from its project. Use the version history control in the document details.

  2. Compare the earlier version

Review the timestamp and the changes before you restore anything. Confirm it is the version the team wants to keep.

  3. Restore and explain the decision

Restore the selected version, then add a short comment if the change affects other reviewers or the approval path.

Before you restore

Check the timestamp and review the earlier version before you make it current. If the change affects an approval or a teammate's work, leave a short comment that explains why you restored it.

Restore with context. Version history gives you a safe way back for documents. A short note stops the same question from returning later.
