Organize work in folders

Give each project one clear home without building a deep hierarchy.

Folders group the documents, files, links, and conversations that belong to the same piece of work.

How to

  1. Create folders for real projects

Use a folder for a client, campaign, series, or internal initiative. Choose names your team already says out loud.

  2. Keep the working set together

Put the brief, source files, drafts, and useful links in the same folder. A new teammate should understand the project from the list.

  3. Add nesting only when you need it

Create a nested folder only when the current list is hard to scan. Organize for retrieval, not for an ideal filing system.

Use the predictability test. If a teammate cannot predict where a new file belongs, simplify the folder names before adding another layer.
